Irina Rafliana, M.Si as representatives ICIAR, opened the third lecture series. She also explained the purpose of this discussion in order to understand the research of the tsunami disaster in Indonesia. The presentation was also aided by Dr. Prasetyadi from UPN Veteran Yogyakarta. The discussion continued with presentation by Prof. Ron A Harris. He explained that community-based disaster mitigation is needed to reduce damage and save lives. He conveyed that Indonesia is located among the active plates and cannot predict when the disaster occured. The characteristics of tsunami deposits are described by Purna Sulastya Putra MT, while Knowledge and perspective on tsunami risk are presented by Ahmad Arif. Conclusion from this seminar, that disaster has the power to trigger soisal change. So, to calculate resilience against disaster must also take into account the social aspects, not just Physically safe.
